What is this?
Tacoma's once-a-decade charter review committee is wrapping up its deliberations.
On April 18, there will be a meeting devoted to public comment.
Possible recommendations heading the agenda:
• Whether to switch Tacoma's form of government to something more like a "strong mayor" model.
• Expanding term limits
• Making the Council full-time, and capable of hiring its own staff
• Allowing the City to sell waterfront property to other government agencies, exclusively for the public's benefit
• Altering initiatives and referendum requirements
• Changing the composition of TPU's board
• Creating greater civilian oversight over the TPD
• Changing election finance rules
