Join us for updates on Washington’s Climate Commitment Act (CCA) and broader efforts to address climate change.
Marty Gibbins, LWVWA Climate and Energy Issue Chair and Board Second Vice President, will provide an overview of current state efforts, including the Climate Commitment Act and funding challenges at both state and federal levels. Following the presentation, Chuck Jensen (LWVTPC) will lead a discussion on international progress in climate action and energy conservation.
Marty, a Virginia Tech engineering graduate, spent 35 years at Boeing in design, analysis, research, and management. He joined the League in 2017 and has led LWVWA advocacy efforts focused on environmental protection, climate, and energy policy. As LWVWA Climate and Energy Issue Chair, Marty leads advocacy efforts to promote legislation that ensures a healthy environment for people and wildlife.
Chuck Jensen is co-founder of the Tacoma chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby, www.citizensclimatelobby.org a non-profit advocating for local, state, national, and international measures to mitigate climate change. He is also a trained leader with Al Gore’s Climate Reality Project, www.climaterealityproject.org.
