Public Issue Forums

Peace Begins with Art is an initiative that is vital for encouraging youth to reflect on important issues and express their vision of the world around them. Through the theme of "Peace via Art," teenagers have the opportunity to share their ideas, showcase their creativity, and even win prizes!  All artworks will be displayed publicly, celebrating their talent and perspectives. See details in the flyer to the right.

This contest invites teens from Tacoma and Brovary, Tacoma’s Sister City in Ukraine, to engage in a meaningful dialogue about peace through artistic expression.

Learn about the Initiatives on the November 2024 Ballot

There are four initiatives on the ballot in November:

•         I-2066 requiring certain utilities and local governments to provide natural gas to eligible customers
•         I-2109 repealing the long-term capital gains tax
•         I-2117 prohibiting carbon tax credits and trading and repealing legislation establishing a cap and invest program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
•         I-2124 allowing employees and self-employed people to opt-out of Washington's long term care insurance program.

Learn what these initiatives are and what the consequences would be if they are approved by the voters.

Three forums are offered to provide opportunities for the public to learn about these initiatives and why the League of Women Voters is urging voters to vote NO on each of them.
